Important tips when visiting potential venues
So you're engaged! Now, it's time to lock down that venue. But how do you choose? Time to jump in the car and go to the site yourself (if possible). And when you visit the venue in person, keep these four important tips in mind.- Do you feel it? This decision is similar to how you will approach all big decisions in your marriage (buying a home, selecting a name for your baby, etc) You need to have a gut reaction to the location. A feeling that “it makes sense” and conveys your vision.
- Are they accommodating? You will get a real sense of how flexible they are by asking questions like, “What if we have more or fewer guests than we expect?” If their answer is... “No problem, we can accommodate you”, then you know you’re in the right place.
- More than one wedding on the same day is not ideal. Ask questions about it.
- Last, it’s great to walk the property as though you were a guest at your wedding. What will others see and experience? If something is particularly wonderful, make a note. If something is slightly off, make a note. Putting together all your thoughts and sharing it with your coordinator will help emphasize or de-emphasize certain areas or details.
