A California Bride, three ways

A California Bride, three ways

Three movies | three locations | three brides

Santa Barbara

Picture Michelle Williams in the movie "My week with Michelle" in her scarf covered coif riding elegantly in a convertible along the countryside. This Santa Barbara bride is indeed a country girl at heart but never lacking filled in sophistication. She imbues the gorgeous landscape and history that her hometown of SB boasts.

Her look:

Her dress is flowy and easy and she wears a delicate floral wreath in place of a veil.

Her food:

She naturally selects a farm to table menu that includes plenty of fruit, vegetables, and all-natural beef.

Her decor:

Her bouquet includes the softness of white garden roses paired with the charm of lavender and pale purple thistle. She selects white wrought iron chameleon chairs to accompany either rustic wood or cast iron tables. She pairs it all together with metallic threaded linen table runners, crystal candelabras, and mercury glass flower containers filled with billowy, feminine pastel-colored flowers.

Los Angeles

She's a femme fatale from the movie "Spellbound" where drama is only the beginning. Indeed this LA Bride knows her brands and worships great style. She is unapologetic for looking sexy and can't wait to embrace and celebrate with her closest friends and family.

Her look:

She's wearing a streamlined gown paired with avant-garde jewelry. --you cannot look passed her onyx and emerald Ralph Lauren earrings. Her veil is bold and structured and her lips are red. She's wearing her "something borrowed" Tom Ford handbag and sparkly Christian Louboutin pumps

Her food:

At least five courses deep in perfectly wine paired delicacies. Each course is a direct reflection of their foodie nature.

Her decor:

black and gold, of course. She plays with boundaries and pushes limits. Black floor-length silk charmeuse linens look like gowns as they puddle on the ground. Black Louie chairs stand at attention as the gold antler centerpieces take center stage. Sparing florals are used but only because there is a soft center to this edgy girl.

San Diego

This small-town (almost island) girl is no shrinking violet. In fact, she is so confident that violet is often too delicate for her taste. The movie "La Isla Bonita" comes to mind as we examine her choices.

Her look:

Her dress is a classic feel but never heavy and always body skimming. Her veil is sometimes short and sometimes long and always replaced with a single flower after the ceremony. Her jewelry has an island feel perhaps freshwater pearls mixed with chunky turquoise. Her coral lips and natural makeup show off her assets

Her food:

Tapas all night. This is no "low budget" affair. Her cuisine is purposefully casual but rich in quality. Lots of emphasis is placed on the sequence and the types of hors d'oeuvres.

Her decor:

Flow style tables are high and low with all the emphasis on lighting and lounge furniture. Her color scheme is deep and brilliant -- You won't see the kitchy "bird of paradise" but you very well may see large parrots! Tropical birds take center stage as guests are invited to the atrium ballroom post-nuptials. Music and lighting changes as the night progresses to shift the mood and continued interest.
