It makes sense that the more layers you wear, the warmer you become, but it’s not as intuitive to know that layers also provide visual interest. Two pieces (shirt and pants) are similar to a flat piece of paper. Once you add a third piece (jacket, blazer, scarf, hat, vest, or even well-appointed sunglasses) you create a third dimension — Your outfit now pops off the page!

But, due to rising temps in the world, even if you are a big and tall guy, layers are more necessary for fall than the once gigantic coat to keep warm. Your ability to remove a layer is essential. Trendy layers this fall have lots of texture in outerwear. Faux furs, suede, and shearling top the charts as accents to denim or leather jackets. The addition of chunky hats and scarves (also regarded as outerwear) convey the texture, interest, and warmth you need for autumn style.
